Trails to Blaze with your Best Bud

Happy National Puppy Day!!

There are endless reasons as to why dogs are so undeniably cute and hold such a special place in our hearts. Whether it’s their unconditional love, how happy they are to see us whenever we get home, the amazing cuddles they give, or their loyal (and goofy) personalities... There is no denying that these lovable creatures have the biggest hearts around & always cease to brighten our day!!!

Getting outside is one of the best things you can do for your four-legged friend and we all know just how happy it makes them! That’s why we thought we’d share some of our favourite dog-friendly trails to blaze in the Fraser Valley! What better way to celebrate National Puppy Day than to explore nature with your best bud?!

Don’t forget to bring some goodies along for the adventure; a pocket full of treats for your pal & an OYB Beer just for you ;).

VEDDER RIVER ROTARY TRAIL - CHILLIWACK

Starting off with one we all know and love, we’re talking everything your dog will love too; room to roam, birds to bark at, doggo’s to meet, and a river to drink from (or dip those pretty paws in)! This relatively flat trail follows the Vedder River and offers beautiful scenic views.

Seeing as there are tons of parking lots along the way, you can choose to do as much or as little of the trail as you’d like. But let’s be real… your dog wants you to take the long route! There are also TONS of happy-happy dogs who frequent this path, making it a perfect way for your pup to make a new furry friend (maybe even a lifelong bestie)!

Difficulty: Easy

Elevation Gain: Minimal

Round Trip: 16 km

Season: Year’ round

LINDEMAN LAKE TRAIL - CHILLIWACK LAKE AREA

Is your dog the mountain adventuring type?? If so, it’s time to get out into the great outdoors & celebrate the day with a hike to Lindeman Lake!

This one is an absolute gem that is moderately challenging and will take you through towering trees and rocky terrain. Prepare to get your shoes (and paws) a little muddy!! The best part about this trail is that there is a beautiful, crystal clear lake to enjoy at the end of the adventure! Your fluff ball will be thanking you with cuddles later, after a much-needed bath of course.

Difficulty: Moderate

Elevation Gain: 300 m

Round Trip: 3.5 km

Season: Year’ Round (recommended: May - October)

MATSQUI TRAIL - ABBOTSFORD

Comin’ at ya with another flat & leisurely trail to blaze in the Fraser Valley with your best bud. Your dog will definitely want to come back time and time again, just LOOK at how happy George is in the picture above (SO CUTE).

The Matsqui Trail will show you unbelievable views of the Fraser River, our local mountain ranges, and the surrounding farms! And incase you didn’t go before you left home, there are a couple of outhouses along the way, as well as some doggie bags for your furry friend #convenience. Again, you can make this one as long or as short as you’d like, but we all know what your pup wants to do… After all, this day is all about them!

Difficulty: Easy

Elevation Gain: 60 m

Round Trip: 20.4 km

Season: Year’ Round

HOOVER LAKE TRAIL - MISSION MUNICIPAL FOREST

Time to get that tail wagging by saying those three magic words… “wanna go outside?!” (we hope it’s said in your most excited dog voice)! And for the sake of your dog, we must add another trail that involves a body of water to splish-splash in.

During your hike to Hooker Lake, you’ll be surrounded by lots of trees to admire! With all that forest around and fallen branches to choose from, your furry pal will be in stick paradise! Once you make it to the top, take in the serene lake views and go for a little stroll around the water with your buddy!

Difficulty: Moderate

Elevation Gain: 354 m

Round Trip: 7.7 km

Season: Year’ Round (recommended: April - October)
